Malaika Arora chose not to share her yoga videos on International Yoga Day, but she did something even better. In an interview with the news agency, the 44-year-old fitness enthusiast discussed her favorite, simple yoga poses and their benefits. Her top two yoga poses are the Lotus Position (Padmasana) and Sun Salutation (Suryanamaskar).
Malaika had already started preparing for Yoga Day the previous week, delighting her Instagram followers with pictures of herself performing yoga poses during her yoga session. She captioned one of her posts with, “Inhale. Exhale. And immerse yourself in a world of well-being. Celebrating International Day of Yoga.”
Regarding her favorite yoga poses, Malaika said, “Padmasana is my favorite yoga pose. It requires a focused mind and concentration power. This pose symbolizes the balance between the mind, body, and soul, nurturing your whole self. It stimulates the flow of energy in the body, and with frequent practice, it enhances your ability to concentrate in other situations beyond the yoga mat.”
She also shared her appreciation for Sun Salutation (Suryanamaskar), stating, “Suryanamaskar is a full-body workout that massages, detoxifies, and stimulates nearly every organ in the human body. It improves blood circulation, bringing a healthy glow to your face, and benefiting both physical and mental well-being. It acts as a great bridge between warming-up poses and more intense yoga poses.
For me, Suryanamaskar is my complete workout package.”
Notably, just last month, Malaika actively participated in the ‘Hum Fit Toh India Fit’ fitness challenge and shared a video of herself practicing Pilates.

She is seen stretching her body and performing various yoga asanas with the yoga wheel placed between her back and the yoga mat, providing additional support to her practice.
The post mentioned the emotional and physical benefits of practicing yoga with a wheel, such as releasing negative emotions, opening the heart chakra (Anahata chakra), reducing stress and tension, improving flexibility, enhancing the range of motion, and strengthening the spine. Furthermore, the use of a yoga wheel aids in providing support to the body and reducing the risk of workout-related injuries.
