Race to the Semifinals: A Closer Look at the Qualifying Scenarios

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has declared that the last set of tickets in the Race to the Semifinals for the World Cup semi-finals and final will be available at 8 p.m. IST on Thursday, November 9. Cricket enthusiasts will seize their ‘last chance’ to secure seats for the World Cup 2023 semi-finals and finals as the tickets become accessible on the ICC’s official website, redirecting to Book My Show, according to the confirmation by the BCCI. This marks the ultimate opportunity to purchase tickets for the upcoming semi-finals and final of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, as the event approaches its critical stage.

Race to the Semifinals

At 8:00 PM on November 9th, the final batch of tickets will become available for purchase on the official ticketing website, cricketworld.com. This represents the ultimate opportunity for cricket enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the enchanting atmosphere and excitement of the World Cup, allowing them to be present in person for the momentous crowning of a new champion,” the release stated.

The first semi-final is slated for November 15th at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, with the second semi-final taking place on November 16 at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. The highly anticipated grand final is scheduled for November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Now that India, South Africa, and Australia have secured their spots as confirmed semi-finalists, the demand for tickets is anticipated to soar. Both the ICC and BCCI have faced criticism for their perceived mishandling of the ticket sale process, and this upcoming sale will serve as a crucial test for them and their platform, Book My Show.

In one of the two semi-finals, the second-ranked South Africa is set to face Australia, regardless of the outcome in their last group-stage fixture. Meanwhile, the other semi-final, featuring India, is poised for a three-way battle among New Zealand, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

With England, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the Netherlands out of contention, the opponents for India’s semi-final will hinge on the outcomes of the final three matches involving New Zealand, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. If Pakistan qualifies as the fourth-ranked team, India’s semi-final location will shift to Kolkata; otherwise, they will play in Mumbai.
