Varun Dhawan’s Workout Routine and Diet: Fitness Tips Straight from His Trainer

With washboard abs, sculpted arms and toned legs, who can blame men from across the country to want a body like Varun Dhawan? Or the millions of girls whose hearts he stole with his debut movie Student Of The Year? The Main Tera Hero actor is unstoppable at the box office and gives us major #FitnessGoals when he hits the gym. He draws inspiration from the likes of Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Varun recently uploaded a picture of the two on Instagram saying, “Arnold and Stallone. One at the age of 70 and the other at 69. Inspiring us all even now.”Varun has not only maintained his gorgeous physique over the years, but trained even harder whenever the scripts have demanded it. For Dishoom, he trained nonstop for three months with celebrity fitness trainer Prashant Sawant and Rohan Sawant. He wrote on Instagram, “Give it all or nothing.” Varun also stepped up his workout routine for his upcoming movie Badrinath Ki Dulhania releasing on 10th March 2017 ( the sequel to Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania). He uploaded a picture of himself on Instagram and captioned it, “Needed to change my training for the role. Changing training methods keeps gym workouts very interesting.” Varun was on a high-carb diet and worked out excessively for the role in order to increase his muscle mass. He was mainly focusing on two body parts at the same time – his chest and arms.

So if you’re struggling to get in shape or looking for fitness motivation, scroll down for Varun Dhawan’s diet and fitness secrets. To get you some exclusive insights, we spoke to Varun’s renowned Fitness Coach and Pilates trainer, Namrata Purohit.Varun Dhawan’s Fitness Regime“Varun works out for about one and a half hours, four to six times a week depending on his schedule. He does a mix of pilates and weight training, and works on strengthening his body as well as on agility, flexibility, balance and stability,” said Fitness Expert Namrata Purohit. He usually starts his workout with warm-up exercises, and then moves onto cardio and heavy weight training. Since he doesn’t like using a body double and enjoys doing stunts himself for action scenes, he has been training with Namrata to increase his flexibility.

“He basically does two forms of training i.e. weight training and pilates. However, each routine is different and every workout challenges him differently.” Varun Dhawan has been training with trainer Prashant Sawant (who also trains Shah Rukh Khan) for Judwaa 2 for a new training program called the Body Shred Program.

“Pilates has made Varun more flexible, lean, and has improved his balance. He is also better able to cope with injuries and is being able to prevent them. Since he loves dancing, pilates has also helped his movements become more fluid and he’s gotten a lot stronger.” Varun also loves cycling and says, “it’s the best way to get where you want.”

Surprisingly, Varun’s definition of fitness is far broader than one would imagine. He advises his fans to aim at becoming flexible and limber, instead of just focusing on a muscular body. “It’s amazing that he understands that fitness is not just about how one looks but also how one feels and is able to cope with the different challenges his career throws at him. He understands the true value of being fit!”Varun Dhawan’s Diet: RevealedVarun Dhawan may be spotted on social media devouring pizza, cheesecake and even a chocolate milkshake on his cheat day, but he enjoys eating clean and leading a healthy lifestyle on the whole. For breakfast, Varun enjoys eating omelette, oatmeal and whole-wheat grain sandwich. For lunch, he prefers brown rice, three chapatis, broccoli and baked chicken. When he feels a snack attack coming his way, he eats lotus seeds, papaya, banana or drinks a protein smoothie. He usually eats a light dinner with plenty of mixed greens and grilled fish.Want a body like Varun Dhawan? Namrata Purohit shows you the way, “Hard work! There’s no substitute to hard work.” And we couldn’t agree more.
